North- and Central America

Leave of absence from our jobs are in place. During the next 2 months we are backpacking around North- and Central America. The trip takes off in New York City where we celebrate New Year and visit the world-famous attractions. From there, we continue to warmer climates in Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Honduras, Belize and Mexico. New York City is known worldwide. The city is the U.S. "financial center" packed with attractions. Who doesn´t dream of seeing the Statue of Liberty, admire the view from the Empire State Building or enjoy the sunset from the Brooklyn Bridge. Search for a glimpse of celebrities in Meat Distric or relax watching a Broadway Show. Central America offers volcanoes, rain forests, Caribbean beaches, surfing in the Pacific, a rich wildlife and stunning islands. See turtles being hatched. Walk on active volcanoes or throw yourself into volcano surfing. Stay on a desert island and snorkle among the colorful fish. Hike in the mountains and sleep at the foot of a volcano. Do not forget to try the large range of exciting culinary dishes. Treat your taste buds with Taco Verde or homemade nachos with fantastic tasty salsa. You need to be familiar with beans as they are one of the main ingredients in every meal in Central America. Use your head wisely during your travel. Some countries and cities are dangerous to stay in. Do not be paranoid but make wise decisions and you will have an excellent trip. Choose your destinations carefully. Crime is a major problem that must be taken seriously but don´t let it stop your travel plans. It is not possible to find information about every country in Central America on the homepage of the Foreign Ministry. So check what other countries write - eg. the United States.
