Continental Airlines to Costa Rica

This afternoon, we’re flying on to the capital of Costa Rica, San Jose. So, we had some time to head back to B&H again. Jan wanted to get a diving housing for his new digital camera. It cost $240. B&H has a policy called "price match the larger authorized chains." Beforehand, we checked JR's website, another big American electronics store. They were selling the camera housing for just $199.88. So, that's the price Jan got it for. On top of that, he also got $5 back for the purchase of the new Canon digital camera he bought on December 31. Simply because JR was selling the exact same camera for $5 less than B&H. In general, all the Americans seem incredibly service-oriented and happy with their jobs—no matter how bad it might seem to us. As mentioned, there are always long lines at the attractions. And there are plenty of people hired to direct folks on how to queue properly, to get people into elevators, and to ensure that the sidewalks are clear at the sights so that others can pass by. These jobs might not seem all that exciting to us, but they treat everyone with the utmost respect and answer all questions kindly. Even the homeless in the city seem polite... When we were about to board the plane, they announced that it was overbooked. They needed 2 volunteers who could wait until the next day to fly. In compensation, they would receive a voucher for $400 per person for other flights with Continental Airlines, along with accommodation and meal allowances covered. We can’t use a voucher for anything. We tried to convince them to give us the cash instead—but no luck. Otherwise, they would have had us as the 2 volunteers, and we could have made a little money :) Five hours later, we arrived in San Jose. A taxi from the airport cost $22. We were taken to the hostel Pangea, where they only had beds available in a dorm room for girls. They made an exception, so Jan was allowed to sleep with us girls. Accommodations aren’t exactly cheap, but we can definitely feel that food has become cheaper.
