Alaska and Western Canada
Four weeks through Alaska and Western Canada with glaciers, bears, whales, a coastal cruise and spectacular hikes from Vancouver Island to Whistler.
In July we spent four weeks in Alaska and western Canada. The trip started in Anchorage with a week on our own, where we rented a car and explored Alaska's mountainous nature. We hiked to glaciers, tracked bears on the rivers and experienced the wilderness with bear spray in our belts. We then boarded the Celebrity Summit cruise ship for a week-long voyage from Seward to Vancouver. We visited isolated coastal towns like Juneau, Skagway and Hoonah, sailed close to Hubbard Glacier and saw bears, whales and eagles in the wild. On the trip, we rented cars in several port cities to get out on our own. After the cruise, we spent six days on Vancouver Island, visiting Cathedral Grove and the coastal towns of Tofino and Ucluelet. We continued to Whistler in the mountains, where we hiked the High Note Trail with views of glacial lakes and mountains. The trip ended in Vancouver and Seattle. In the diaries you can read about the hikes, wildlife, practical tips on car rental and accommodation, and the prices of the trip.
