Today, we invested in a netbook, which is a mini laptop about the size of a book. Internet is incredibly expensive in the U.S., but the good news is that Wi-Fi is free everywhere. We also noticed in Central America that the trend is moving towards bringing your own little netbook and connecting for free at hostels and restaurants. We’ve jumped on the bandwagon and can now get online for free. Internet cafés are becoming a thing of the past. We’re online again! :) One of the best places to buy electronics is Best Buy. We picked up an HP mini netbook 1030 for 2300 DKK. Walmart can also have good deals, but the selection is smaller. Casino cruises are huge in Florida, where you get taken three miles out from the coast until you’re in international waters. That’s where it’s legal to gamble. There are casino cruises in several places across the U.S. We chose Cape Canaveral, which has two ships to choose from—Las Vegas and Sun Cruz. Sun Cruz is the bigger ship, which means Las Vegas tends to rock a bit more. The entry fee is usually $8, but we managed to negotiate it down to $3. On board, they serve free drinks as long as you’re playing—just like in the city of Las Vegas. Plus, you can fill up at a buffet for $7 per person. Both ships have two departures a day, each lasting four hours, at 11:30 AM and 7:30 PM. During the day, most of the guests are retirees, which Florida has plenty of. They have both the money and the time to gamble. In the evening, the younger crowd comes on board to spend some cash. If you’re a local or plan to visit the same casino ship multiple times, you can get a free points card, which lets you earn credits when you play. The points can be redeemed for VIP access and gifts. Renting a car gives you incredible freedom. While we were out sailing on Sun Cruz, we had our backpacks in the trunk. This means you can drive exactly where you want during the day. Plus, you can head just a little outside the city to sleep, where hotels are often cheaper—just remember to use coupon books for discounts!
