It is possible to rent motorcycles and bicycles, so you can drive around the island. The largest city on Ometepe states Myogalpa, but there are other cities around the island - often consisting of only a few houses. They are all around along the beach when the 2 volcanoes record all square at the center of the island. The ferry back to the mainland again rocked violently. There is a real time in the sea all the time. From Rivas, we took the local bus continued Granada, which is an old koloniby. The bus takes about 1-2 hours and costs 26 cordoba per ticket. Granada, a larger city but not dangerous like the capital, Managua, as they preferably should be completely avoided. It is actually possible to go out at night in certain neighborhoods in Granada. Exactly where we have chosen to stay - not far from Cental Park and Calle La Calzada. Its great to have arrived at a slightly larger city where the choice of restaurants is broader, and some places are even super-modern. One can next get bad conscience by eating a good place when we travel budget. 2 courses and a huge jug shangria costing about 450 cordoba. Try to eat at El Tercer Ojo, it can be recommended. Granada has also a nice nightlife. We met a group of Americans, Australians and Canadians, who were on their way down to a bar with live salsa music. They traveled with a guide who knows the country and the situation in Central America pretty well, so we got some travel advice. A half bottle of rum costs only 70 cordoba, so the rest of the evening talk show for itself:)
