Shopping and Hooters

Sawgrass Mills Mall is Florida's largest outlet mall and the biggest tourist attraction after Disney World – at least according to the guidebook. The place is packed with shops, restaurants, and kid-friendly attractions. Even the parking lot is enormous. Nothing is small in the USA. Everything is done 100%. Our newly purchased mini netbook isn’t working quite right. So, we had to head back to Best Buy, where we used our best persuasion skills and determination until they took the old one back and gave us a new one. That’s the risk you take when buying electronics abroad. What if it breaks later on? At least we’re glad the problem came up while we’re still in the country. Now we have the chance to thoroughly test this mini netbook for any issues before heading home. Hooters is known for having waitresses with big breasts. It all started when some guys were looking for a place to relax with a good beer and chicken wings. The restaurants are built with wood, giving off a masculine vibe. The waitresses with big breasts came into the picture to attract more customers. But it's not just a place for men. Many families stop by since the food isn’t too expensive. Americans don’t get five weeks of vacation like in Denmark. Usually, everyone only has one week of vacation a year. Instead, they negotiate sick days as part of their benefits. Employees at larger companies often have three weeks of sick leave/personal days. You can take them whenever you want. You don’t have to be sick – just remember to save some in case you do get sick. Having a pool is nice, especially since the heat in southern Florida can be quite intense. Americans are incredibly outgoing, so a pool can also be a great place to strike up a conversation with people. A chat can turn into a full-blown party that lasts the rest of the evening :) We met three young folks from Tennessee – with a strong accent – who drove all the way down here so one of them could get an MRI. Back in their hometown, it costs $500, but in Florida, it’s only $200. Medical expenses are high in the USA. One of them was also dealing with a toothache since a tooth extraction costs $400.
