Gold rush time in Alaska

We have stayed in a cabin close to Hatcher Pass🏔️ A really beautiful cabin where nature is close by. Here moose often pass by the cabin, while the bears stay away for now🐻 Hotel nights are expensive in Alaska. So all our nights are booked through Airbnb. This allows us to keep a reasonable budget of around $50 per night. The advantage is that we can cook our own food and have plenty of space😃 Alaska is generally expensive, which we also notice in the supermarkets. Most things in Alaska have to be transported by ship, plane or truck over long distances. This part of the world is just very isolated🙃 The weather has been a bit challenging today, so our longer hikes in the mountains were replaced by a visit to a closed gold mine. Super exciting to experience and learn about the wild gold rush time in Alaska. Yes, gold mines are still an important source of income in Alaska today. Tens of thousands of jobs are directly or indirectly linked to mining.
