We saved the most beautiful hike for last here in the Whristler area - although yesterday's hike was hard to beat. The High Note Trail is considered one of the most spectacular day hikes in all of Canada, and yes... wow, it really is beautiful! To get to the starting point, we took two cable cars - first the gondola from Whistler Village and then the Peak Express Chairlift - which took us up to 2,182 meters. It was extremely foggy and we could barely see anything. It was actually a bit scary to take the open chairlift the last part up when you could only see a few meters ahead in the thick fog. We almost skipped the whole trip because of the weather, but luckily we decided to give it a try - and it was a great decision. Just 20 minutes later, the clouds started to clear and suddenly the landscape opened up in glorious sunshine. The weather changes really quickly up here in the mountains. Much of the route offers panoramic views of Cheakamus Lake - a turquoise blue glacial lake - and the snow-capped mountain peaks and dramatic rocky landscapes around us. Wow, it was beautiful!
