Tomorrow we get off the cruise ship Celebrity Summit after a week-long cruise around Alaska. It's been a great experience 😍 - amazing nature, rich wildlife and an exciting culture. An Alaskan cruise in July can easily be a rainy affair, but we've been incredibly lucky with good weather every single day. Everything just looks better when the sun shines 😙 We have previously sailed with most of the well-known companies such as AIDA, Norwegian, Costa, MSC, Royal Caribbean, Princess and Carnival. In our eyes, Celebrity is at the very top when it comes to dining experiences, service and the range of good activities. However, there's no water park or go-kart track like on some of the larger ships that sail roundtrip from Vancouver or Seattle and spend more time at sea. On our one-way itinerary from Anchorage to Vancouver we have been ashore almost every day to experience Alaska - so the time has not been there anyway. It is definitely not the last time we sail with Celebrity Cruises 👌 We are very impressed with the standard. We had an inside cabin amidships and paid $16,500 ($4,125 per snout) for the whole week - including $150 onboard credit 🙂 A balcony is undoubtedly great to have, but we opt out if the price is not attractive. On this trip, an outside cabin cost double 🤨 Alaska is generally expensive and the excursions through the cruise ship can be extremely expensive - especially for a family of four. We rarely take advantage of them. The local providers ashore aren't cheap either, but we've been lucky a few times to get a good discount. We've done the rest ourselves - and it can easily be done. For example, we rented a car in Juneau, which was a hit. For us, it has worked really well to combine individual tours with experiences on our own😗 Cruising is the cheapest way to see this unique part of Alaska, as almost all stops have been to destinations that can only be reached by ferry or plane A great recommendation from us. An Alaskan cruise is something very special and a great positive surprise 😚
