Eastern Canada

Last trip in July/August 2024 went to "Eastern Canada". Here are some conclusions & facts about prices from our trip🤓 We flew roundtrip from Billund to Toronto with Icelandic PLAY. The flight times were really good with only 1 1/2 hours stopover in Iceland and 2 hours on the return trip. Tickets cost 4250 kr. per person in high season, which included luggage. You should be aware that airline PLAY is a low-cost airline. Very punctual, but all food and drinks cost extra on board (so we brought it ourselves) We rented a car through AVIS for 17 days for 350 kr. per day. It was a very spacious Ford Escape with a very large trunk. We stayed mainly in motels and hotels, but also in a large cabin far out in the woods. Almost every time we had breakfast included in the price and 2 double beds, which is very common in Canada and the US. The average was about 950 DKK per night. But we also upgraded along the way and stayed 4 of the days at the Hilton. In general, the price level was slightly lower in Canada than Denmark. 1 liter of petrol cost only DKK 7.5 per liter. We could eat at a restaurant every night with wine/drinks and beverages for around 500-600 for all 4 of us. A McDonald's children's menu (Happy Meal) cost 25 DKK. A few things were more expensive, but generally cheaper... Canada, like the US, has all the fast food chains you can think of, so be careful with your stomach 🙂 Compared to the last 3 trips to India/Nepal (October), Tunisia (February), Cape Verde (April), which have been VERY cheap countries to travel around, the Canada trip has of course been MUCH more expensive. Everything from accommodation, restaurants and entertainment is a completely different price level. So which of the last 4 trips is the best? It's hard to say. Canada is a fantastic travel country and we had a great trip😀 Canada is a well-developed country, while Nepal/India, Tunisia and Cape Verde are poor countries. All 4 trips really all have something amazing. But the Nepal trip is probably at the top of the 4. However, there is no way we wouldn't have traveled to Canada! We highly recommend Canada as a travel country and we have a lot to see in this huge country 😎
