Ketchikan

Today we're in Ketchikan, which is among the most visited cruise stops in Alaska. The city has around 8,000 inhabitants and receives an insane 1.2-1.5 million visitors each year! It's known as the "Salmon Capital of the World" and has the world's largest collection of totem poles. We think it's a super cozy and historic city - and also very manageable. After our amazing bear tour yesterday, we got our blood pumping, so we went on an organized 1.5 hour tour out to Herring Cove to see bears hanging out by the river and eating salmon in particular. But the trip turned out to be a huge disappointment and not worth the money - we paid 140 USD for the four of us. We were promised plenty of time by the river, but we had no time to spot bears and the place was crawling with tourists. The trip was more about indifferent sightseeing. So if you're in Ketchikan, we strongly advise against taking that trip 🤨 But that's how it is sometimes 😛 After we got back, we enjoyed the city and the amazing weather. Cloudless and 23 degrees we reached today 🌞 According to the locals, last year they had 300 rainy days 🌧️
