We woke up early thanks to the hangover from last night’s city adventure! Time was tight since we’re heading home tomorrow. However, it was around noon before we finally got moving. We walked a couple of kilometers at a brisk pace from our hostel to Lombard Street, home to the world’s most crooked road. Wow, it’s wild how steep and winding that road is! It’s one-way, and of course, the traffic is super slow. Finally, we made it to the top of the steep road, and the view over San Francisco from up there is absolutely amazing—it’s a must-see! From the top, we hopped on a cable car down to Chinatown. The cable cars cost $2 for a one-way trip, and about $5 for a "one day travelcard." A bit pricey, but you’ve got to experience them! We found a really cheap restaurant in Chinatown. Unfortunately, we could have done without it! Oh my goodness, the food was terrible. An older Chinese man was sitting across from us at our table, eating something that looked pretty good! So Mette ordered the same, and I went for something different. But when our food finally arrived after a long wait, it was mostly bones with hardly any meat. I can’t even describe how unappetizing it looked! Yikes! We exchanged glances and immediately left the restaurant. There was no way we were eating that. It’s a bit puzzling why we got served the worst when the Chinese guy’s meal next to us looked so much better. It really seems like many of the locals dislike tourists... I wonder if they think about the Chinese oppression from the American side. Later in the day, we went to check out the "postcard neighborhood," right next to Alamo Park. The many old Victorian houses that turn their backs to San Francisco’s skyscrapers are part of what makes the city so unique. In the evening, we went grocery shopping and made dinner at the hostel. While we were there, we struck up a conversation with a couple of guys from Copenhagen. They were on a road trip but seemed mostly interested in scoring with the ladies. They thought their "record list" of romantic conquests needed some improvement. That night, we just hung out at the hostel and played pool with some Swedes.
