Back in Frisco

We're getting close to San Francisco again, which is the final leg of our journey. We've become pretty tough at navigating American traffic, so we hardly blinked when we saw the many lanes around San Francisco once more. Before we reached the big city, we took a little detour from the traffic and headed to Napa Valley, which is famous for its wines. But since we were driving, we skipped the many wine tastings. Instead, we drove into the town center, where they were busy decorating for the 4th of July. Parking is a bit of a nightmare everywhere in Frisco. So in the end, we returned the car to AVIS. Saying goodbye to the car was almost tearful. The mechanics at the shop laughed at us as we took pictures of the car that had faithfully accompanied us for a month. Now we're staying in North Beach, which is incredibly close to Chinatown. Thankfully, they don't serve burgers here, which we've had more than enough of. We found a Vietnamese restaurant that offered some incredibly delicious food. They didn’t serve alcohol since they don’t drink themselves, but we were allowed to buy it from somewhere else to enjoy with our meal. We picked up a Chinese wine that was supposed to be semi-sweet. The Chinese must have a completely different scale for their wines because it tasted like drinking sugar cubes mixed with alcohol. It went down alright, thanks to the good food. Afterward, we headed to a nearby bar where we met an American couple on their honeymoon. They were just as festive as we were and incredibly fun. We hit it off right away and decided to join them down at Fisherman’s Wharf to celebrate the 4th of July. There was a huge fireworks display planned for the occasion, but we weren’t overly impressed. In Denmark, we have fireworks that are almost bigger and better. But this day is really significant for Americans, so that evening, there were celebrations everywhere, and of course, we joined in!
