The Best of What Bangkok Has to Offer

We’re back in Thailand, specifically Bangkok, where we’re staying at the Radisson Hotel. After spending 2.5 weeks in Myanmar, we really appreciate being here in Bangkok. There’s a huge amount of money to be saved by booking hotel reservations online instead of just walking in off the street. We paid 2500 baht, while the walk-in rate is 9000 baht! We hadn’t been in the country long before we found our way to one of Bangkok’s big shopping malls, MBK. The Radisson even has a free shuttle to MBK, so it couldn’t be more convenient. The quality of copy clothes, watches, and shoes here is much better than in Myanmar, and the selection is way larger. Unfortunately, that also means the prices are a bit higher... Pantip Plaza is the go-to place for electronics. We needed an external hard drive to transfer our photos, so we wouldn’t have to burn DVDs every time we needed to clear out our memory cards. There’s a lot of competition among the city’s tailors, so you can score some really good deals. We decided to find a tailor on Khao San Road, Bangkok’s famous backpacker area. We got measured for: A suit including a shirt, tie, and pocket square. A 3/4 length women’s shirt. A women’s blazer with 3/4 sleeves. The total price came to 7000 baht. Khao San Road is closed to traffic, and the street is packed with everything a tourist could want. Cozy, affordable restaurants and bars, street food stalls where you can actually eat without getting sick, and tons of copy items, movies, music, etc. It’s a total paradise to explore after our experiences in Myanmar!
