Early Sunday morning, we flew from Siem Reap to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, with AirAsia. Our return ticket to Denmark is actually for tomorrow, December 1st, but we decided to swing by the KLM office at the airport to see if they had any available flights to Denmark later today. Can you believe our luck? They actually had seats available! Sure, we had an 11-hour wait, but who cares when we can get home earlier? It was a 13-hour flight to Amsterdam, where we had a 4-hour layover before our final flight to Billund. The demonstrations in Bangkok are still ongoing, and there’s no sign of a quick resolution. We definitely made the right call flying home from Kuala Lumpur. It turned out to be the fastest option, even though it was a long and exhausting journey. We received great support from our travel insurance, Tryg, and KLM, who were super accommodating in changing our tickets for free several times. So here we are, back in Denmark much earlier than many of the other stranded tourists in Thailand.
