Ryanair to Morocco

Our flight didn't leave Stansted Airport until 5:55pm, so we were in no hurry, which turned out to be a good thing as our heads were feeling yesterday's city tour. We started quietly by buying a Subway sandwich, which we ate in the spring sunshine on a bench along the Thames. It only takes 3 hours and 30 minutes to fly from Stansted to Agadir in Morocco. Ryanair has a food cart on the plane where you can buy food and drinks. You can also bring your own food, they don't say anything about that. There is not much space in the plane, so it was nice to arrive on time, which Ryanair usually is. They are the airline with the best rating in this area. We had read in Lonely Planet and heard from several people that Moroccans are real thieves, and it's true. The taxi drivers were very loud and commanding. We wanted to get away from the circus, so we walked out of the airport. The drivers keep a close eye on the tourists, so we were not allowed to walk very far in peace. A man followed us and asked us to meet him on the road. This got us out of the airport area, so we only had to pay 150 dirhams - instead of 210 dirhams. If you arrive in Morocco during the day, it's recommended that you walk 500 meters up the road where the bus to Inezgane leaves. It only costs 3 dirhams. It's relatively safe to go out at night compared to other African countries. So we could easily go out to find some dinner. Close to the hotel was a small restaurant with a patio that served couscous and pizza. A good crispy pizza for only 28 dirham. Our bill was added up wrong...was it a coincidence or just another example of Moroccan thieves... For dessert we got almonds from a street stall. They tore a page out of the phone book and wrapped the almonds in it. Agadir is not the most popular tourist destination yet, but the city wants to change that, as it is expanding the beach area with many new hotels and a beach promenade with shops and restaurants. So maybe Agadir will be the new charter destination...
