Ouarzazate, a desert city

Strangely, sleeping in the desert was not cold. Even when the sun went down, it didn't get cold. We were able to stay warm all night without wearing our wool underwear. The toilet was out in the open under the sky with a thousand stars to light it up. Yesterday our Moroccan hosts hadn't seemed particularly alert and eager to serve food on time. Today we were woken up at 6am and shortly after breakfast was served - tea and bread with jam. By 7am we were on the camels and ready to go. They were eager to get us out the "door". The rest of the group is going all the way back to Marrakech today, but we got off in Ouarzazate as we have plans to head further up into the mountains. If you want to see real desert far away from cities and other tourists, it's recommended that you go to Ouarzazate to book a tour. The city is much closer to the desert areas than Marrakech, so you don't have to spend as much time traveling. You can spend more time getting further out into the sand, where all the tourists don't come right away. But all in all, we had a good trip, we saw a lot, you just need to be equipped with a good amount of patience. At some point we get back to our hotel and can't find the receptionist. We look down on the floor behind the desk, where he was lying on a small blanket and praying in the direction of Mecca. Yes, when it's prayer time, guests have to wait for their key :o)
