Marrakech, a tourist mecca

The bus to Marrakech takes 3 hours and 45 minutes. and costs 50 dirhams per ticket. The route was flat, but still some people threw up again. Why....they should be used to traveling by bus in their own country. Even if you sit quietly in the bus, the ride can feel rough due to the intense heat and lack of air conditioning. Marrakech is supposed to be very accustomed to tourists, so the vendors are supposed to be pushy and eager pursuers, but we haven't experienced that. There are many tourists and lots of shops and sellers, but they strangely enough respect when you say "no thank you", so they disappear immediately. Of course, you have to negotiate hard on prices if you want to buy something, but we're used to that by now. The most different thing is that 9 out of 10 times the bill is added up incorrectly - a coincidence.... In that way, they are little thieves. Even though the people of Marrakech are used to tourists, the elderly and women still don't want their picture taken. Some even get angry and start shouting if we take a picture of a wall... Older people often have a more distinctive look, indicative of a long life. It takes a lot of money to convince them to take a photo. If you ask them why they don't want their picture taken, they can't come up with a good explanation. Others say they're afraid we'll sell their picture in Europe... Marrakech has it all - even KFC and McDonalds, which we haven't seen anywhere else. The city has a modern district with trendy cafes and restaurants, and it has the old town with the obligatory medina. There is also a large square called Diemme el-Fna with snake charmers, jugglers, musicians, stalls with freshly squeezed juice for only 3 dirhams, girls offering henna drawings etc. Djemma el-Fna is home to many "thieves" such as snake charmers. If you want a photo of yourself with a snake around your neck, they say: "Pay as much as you like." If you give them 10 dirhams for a photo, they get offended and say that it costs at least 10 euros. costs 10 euros. We kept an eye on their technique. Most tourists are a little startled by their behavior and immediately dive into their pockets for more money. You can also buy a new set of dentures here. There are several stands with loose teeth, I wonder where they get them from, where you can choose the composition of your new dental smile. In the evening, the square is transformed into a food market with tables, benches and a barbecue. Seafood, BBQ, snails, etc. A dessert cart with homemade cakes circulates between the stalls, where you can get a taste before buying some delicacies. Others finish with a cup of mint tea. We chose a cup of strong cinnamon tea with an even stronger spicy cinnamon/pepper cake. The prices at the food stalls are the same. Instead, they compete against each other on cleanliness, quality and decoration of their little "restaurant on wheels". Eating here is not cheap. A plate of BBQ skewers costs 70 dirham. We've had far better food in restaurants. But it's an experience to sit in the middle of the market, which is full of life, shouts and smoke from the grill.
