Cuba
2 weeks of holiday in exiciting Cuba with lots of cigars, old american cars and interesting colonial cities.
Is Fidel Castro alive or is he dead? There are plenty of guesses - also among the locals. But the fact is that the country is still controlled in spirit of Fidel - a communist society where all are equal and entitled to the same privileges. Everyone has access to education, medical care, food and housing. The country is poor but with a high educational level among the population - especially for a country in Central America. Cuba is an exciting blend of cigar smoke, American cars, horse wagons, mojitos, salsa rhythms, memories of Che and much more. The population is colorful and welcoming but more and more people want freedom to choose for themselves. It is very difficult to make money in Cuba due to the fact that all is nationalized. It is also difficult to obtain permission to leave the country. Life is easy for those who do not want much. Life is difficult for those who want the freedom to choose - even small things like buying clothes, electronics or a new car are difficult. Therefore, it is a good idea to bring clothes or things that you don´t want anymore. It is much needed and greatly appreciated. On one side, Cuba has a strict regime, on the other side, it is also a country with very little crime. Cubans hope that the country will reopen the borders but they also fear that crime will move to the country. Cuba is now free of the crime that blooms in many countries in Central America. Cuba is an incredibly exciting and very recommendable destination offering friendly people, dazzling beaches, beautiful colonial houses and ready to party. Cuba is a happy, dancing and singing nation that is a good foundation for a successful holiday.
