Dollar Grin to Varadero

We got the car safely back to the landlord again in Santa Clara: o) Unfortunately Viazul bus to Varadero until late afternoon, and Bell was only the 12th ... So we decided to find a car that could drive us to Varadero. The trip took approx. 2 1 / 2 hours and cost 42 CUC, which is a little expensive - but we were driven off in a big American car from the 50s. A true vintage car drove us to Varadero. There are still many cars from the 50s in Cuba, where development has largely stood still since the country became a socialist republic with Fidel at the helm. Our Cadillac had driven many miles, but could as happily ever run. The doors opened a little sometimes, but they were just closed again. There were large gaps between door and frame - wonder what they do when it rains .... On the whole the car like that it lacked some "screw" here and there to stick together at all: o) Varadero is Cubas largest tourist attraction with its beautiful beaches and countless All-inclusive hotels. The city is known for its cozy atmosphere and Cuban culture. People come here solely for its beautiful beaches. Normally you can get great discounts by booking hotels online. It is - almost - impossible to do in Cuba, since internet access is very limited and extremely slow. Instead it is a good idea to book through Cubatur or Havanatur as Cuban agents, which exist throughout the country. They can also provide better prices on some of the hotels. In Varadeo there are only Casa Particularas, which must have local residents. Tourists will stay at the hotels - alas! Standard on most Casa Particularas is much higher than in the cheapest hotels.
