What a warm Valentine's Day!

At 8 AM, we said goodbye to the island and hopped on a boat (15 Belize dollars for a ticket) to the neighboring island of Caye Ambergris, where we'll be staying in the town of San Pedro. This town is bigger than Caye Caulker, which means some people aren't fans of it. They prefer the laid-back vibe of Caye Caulker, with its motto: No t-shirt, no shoes, no problem. San Pedro is a popular vacation spot for many Americans, complete with large resorts. It feels a bit more touristy, which also means things are likely to be pricier here. We're staying at Martha's, which costs 60 Belize dollars. It's a bit more expensive than Caye Caulker, but to our delight, the internet is much cheaper here, and it seems like eating out is also more affordable. We had lunch at Elvi's Restaurant, right across from our hotel. It was a great spot! The floors are sandy, and the restaurant is built around a big tree in the middle. Burritos were just 17 Belize dollars. We've been exploring the island. The beaches are better here, but there are also a lot more beach buggies (little beach cars) on the roads. It's hard to say which is better. Caye Caulker is peaceful and super laid-back, while San Pedro is beautiful but busier. It's seriously hot today. There's not much wind, so we can really feel the heat, which is intense. Honny is especially jumping from shade to shade since he got a bit sunburned from our diving trip yesterday. We sunbathed on the beach at San Pedro's most expensive hotel, Ramon. We lounged in the shade under the palm trees, with only our legs sticking out in the hot sun. We managed to avoid paying for the sunbeds! :) Today is Valentine's Day, so all the restaurants are buzzing. They've decorated beautifully everywhere. It's a big deal here. We had dinner at a little local restaurant. Outside, there were discount coupons just lying there. It didn’t look like they were being handed out; they were just sitting there. We grabbed a couple, so we ended up with a free welcome drink and 10% off our meal! :) We enjoyed coconut chicken, chicken fajitas, and drinks (again). The total came to 45 Belize dollars.
