Reunion with Mexico City

We flew back to Mexico City this morning at 7:30, so we were up bright and early around 5. We had to get the hotel to call a taxi for us, which turned out to be pretty pricey at 60 pesos. If you grab a taxi off the street, it’s much cheaper. It was a joyful reunion with the city that we really love. We’ve returned to the same area we stayed in last time—the historic district. We’re now at Hotel Juarez, which only costs 220 pesos per night. Last time we were here, we found a little café that became our go-to spot, so we headed there for breakfast. By chance, we stumbled upon a massive street market at the foot of the Torre Latino. You could buy everything from caps and T-shirts to watches, DVDs, and PlayStation games. We came away with a little bit of everything! :) A T-shirt cost 80 pesos, and watches were 90 pesos. We got all the first episodes plus the movie behind Dollars for 80 pesos—8 DVDs in total. PlayStation games were 4 for 50 pesos. Just before sunset, we went up to Torre Latinoamericana, which had an entrance fee of 50 pesos, to get a great view of the city and enjoy the sunset from the 43rd floor. From up there, we could see the airport and the many planes taking off just minutes apart. We spotted the skyscrapers, some of which had helipads on their roofs, and the mountains that surround Mexico City. It was beautiful to watch as all the lights in the city began to twinkle on.
