Shopping Day

We had breakfast at our hotel, where you can choose between two menus – Western-inspired food and Asian cuisine. Today, we planned to go shopping for the last few things before we head home soon. It ended up being a full day of shopping from 10 in the morning until 9 at night. We started at Panzi Plaza, which has a huge selection of electronics. Honny picked up two games for 600 baht. After that, we stumbled upon a market nestled between some big hotels. The clothes were really cheap, and Honny bought several T-shirts for 200 baht and a shirt for 75 baht. The hotels around the market were quite nice, and one of them had a sky buffet with a view of the entire city, as the name suggests. The buffet only cost 310 baht per person and featured food inspired by cuisines from all over the world – Italian, Mexican, Thai, Japanese, and so on. We continued our shopping spree at WTC, where a man outside stopped us with a few questions. He told us that if we answered all the questions, we would win something. We were given a scratch card, and we won a travel bag! To collect our prize, we had to follow him to the office, Tai Pan, which was located in the basement of WTC. Coincidentally, there was a Danish guy working there who also had a few questions for us before we could get our prize. It turned out that the whole thing was about buying a membership with Tai Pan for cheaper flights and hotel stays. The membership card cost 30,000 kroner, and the payment had to be made on the spot – no time to think it over. We politely declined and got our bag. Even though the bag was never contingent on a purchase, they seemed pretty annoyed as we left. On our way out of Tai Pan, we passed a place where we could get a massage for our tired shopping feet. It cost 250 baht per person. After that, it was time to head back to St Michael's to try on the clothes that hadn’t been ready the day before. The tailor invited us to dinner the next day when he finished work. He was happy we returned to his shop for more tailoring. He also mentioned that he’s coming to Denmark in the spring, where he has several clients he travels around to. We gave him our email address so he can get in touch when he arrives in Denmark. We went to Hotel Narai for dinner. We were familiar with the hotel since we had stayed there during our trip to Thailand last year. On our way back to our hotel, we passed stalls along the road. The prices were so low that it was hard not to buy something. We ended up getting two pairs of pants for a total of 480 baht, a shirt for 199 baht, and some underwear for 150 baht.
