Shopping at MBK and WTC

We woke up late after celebrating our recent purchases, which included some tailored clothing. The drinks, blue Bacardi Breezers, we had the night before definitely left their mark. When Honny went to the bathroom in the morning, let’s just say it turned his... completely green. Before heading out to explore the shopping malls, we had breakfast at our hotel. We returned to WTC since we didn’t get a chance to look around last time because Tai Pan took up all our time with their lengthy questionnaire. We didn’t buy anything at the mall since everything is much pricier here compared to the countless markets around Bangkok. If you want to shop in malls, it’s better to head to MBK, where things are a bit cheaper. We made our way to Sizzlers for lunch. Sizzlers is an American chain that serves really good food – a bit on the pricey side. It cost us 400 baht for two people. While walking down the street, we ran into a lady who told us about a store called Manhatten that sold cheap clothes. We took her advice since she seemed like an educated woman who spoke good English. It turned out to be a store that pays people commission to promote it. Our tailor was also aware of the store and its tricks of promising people commission to tell tourists about it. Remember, never trust anyone, no matter who they are, when you’re traveling. We started to doubt whether our clothes from the tailor were more expensive than at other places. Even though we had previously had clothes made at St Michael's and he seemed very genuine, we were unsure about his prices. We visited a few different tailors to ask about prices for clothing similar to what we had made. Fortunately, it turned out we got a really good deal at St Michael's. If he had tried to cheat us, we definitely wouldn’t recommend him to friends and family when they come to Denmark. In the evening, we headed to the fancy Sofitel hotel for dinner. They had a really delicious and very affordable buffet. It only cost 400 baht per person. Sofitel also had a rooftop bar, where we went afterward to grab a drink and enjoy the view over Bangkok. The drinks were pricey – 199 baht each. Since it was our last night, we didn’t feel like holding back, so we went to some upscale places. The Holiday Inn wasn’t far from Sofitel, so we walked over afterward. A band was playing in the bar, where you could request songs. The drinks were just as expensive here – but really good.
