London Bridge in Lake Havasu City

We were still sweating as we drove out of Palm Springs. The temperature had dropped a bit, but it wasn't really noticeable. The air conditioning in the car was cranked up as we continued east. We passed through Lake Havasu City, which has quite an incredible story. Years ago, a wealthy man bought London Bridge, took it apart, transported it thousands of miles across the Atlantic, and reassembled it on American soil. Today, it stands beautifully over a very popular lake, where many people drive long distances to spend their weekends sailing. We couldn't resist stopping right here in boat heaven. Expensive, wildly impressive boats were constantly sailing by. Others were anchored, while passengers jumped off the deck to cool off. We had a long way ahead of us, as our next big destination was Las Vegas, so we soon hit the road again. The landscape had changed quite a bit during our trip. The nature was becoming increasingly sparse due to the intense heat. That’s why it felt so good to find a motel with a pool at the end of the day to cool off. We managed to do just that in Kingman, where we stayed at the Silver Queen Motel, which was incredibly cheap. Our room was huge and had a fridge, so we went out to stock up in the evening. Close to the motel were massive shopping centers, where we did a big grocery run for the next day to save a bit of money.
