We arrived yesterday in Gran Canaria on a domestic flight from Málaga. From the airport, we took a direct taxi to our hotel in Las Palmas 🚕 – a trip of about 25 minutes that cost 35 euros. It's been a few years since we last visited Gran Canaria, which is one of the Danes' absolute favorite winter holiday charter destinations. The cruise departs from the island's capital, Las Palmas, which is located right at the northern tip of the island. The city got its name when the Spaniards found large amounts of palm trees upon their arrival – hence the name Las Palmas, “the palms.” Today we explored the cozy streets and beaches of Las Palmas. The price level is quite reasonable – at a local restaurant, we paid only 55 kr. for 2 coffees, 1 hot chocolate, and 4 churros ☕️🍩 All over the city, Christmas is celebrated with beautiful decorations, attractions, and Christmas markets – especially around the harbor area. It's really cozy to experience, not least for our family, who loves the Christmas atmosphere 🎄✨ At 2 PM, it was finally time to board our little cruise ship AIDAbella. Less than 20 minutes later, we were on board – ready for a week-long cruise around the Canary Islands and Morocco. Tonight at 10 PM, we set sail for the first stop on our journey: Lanzarote 🚢🌍
