Greece in week 42
An autumn week by Greece’s Ionian Sea, sailing our own small boat between islands and visiting Lefkada’s dramatic Porto Katsiki beach.
During the fall break (week 42) we spent a week in Greece by the Ionian Sea. The weather was still good with sun and warmth. We rented a small motorboat for a few days. In Greece you can sail boats up to 30 hp without a license, so after a short introduction we sailed between Lefkas, Meganisi and several small islands ourselves. We docked in small towns, swimming and snorkeling along the way. The boat cost 80 euros a day plus gasoline. On Lefkas, we visited Porto Katsiki beach, which is located down to the sea surrounded by white cliffs. There are many stairs down to the beach, but even my 84-year-old grandmother made the trip. In the diaries you can read more about the trip, the beach and our experiences with car rental versus airport transfers.
