Discover amazing Nepal
Two weeks in Nepal with family homestays, a four-day Himalayan trek and sunrise from Poon Hill at 3,210 metres above sea level.
During the fall break we spent two weeks in Nepal. From Kathmandu we drove 210 km to Pokhara on some of the worst roads in the world. The trip took 8.5 hours in a rented jeep. Homestay with Nepali families We stayed with two Nepalese families in the mountains. We participated in cooking the national dish Dal bhat, hiked with the family and were met with great hospitality. The children were the same age as ours, which made the experience even better. 4-day trek in the Himalayas We spent four days trekking among some of the highest mountains in the world. Early in the morning we stood on Pune Hill at 3210 meters and watched the sunrise over the mountain range. We stayed in guesthouses in the mountains along the way. Kathmandu We visited shopping malls, the zoo and enjoyed the city's colorful and welcoming people. Prices are low - taxis cost an average of 15 kr and food costs a fraction of Danish prices. The temperature was 25 degrees with plenty of sun in October. After Nepal, we visited Mumbai in India, where we toured the Dharavi slum with a local guide. In the diaries, you can read about the homestays, the hikes in the Himalayas and our experiences in Nepal.
