Authentic Lombok. Wow, a wild day ๐ The other day we got talking to a young man who organizes trips to the neighboring island of Lombok. Instead of waterfalls and elephant riding, we wanted something much more authentic. We agreed on a tour that instead took us to the local market, rice fields and not least to his home in his local village ๐ We agreed on 700,000 (320 kr.) for the day, which included private car with driver, gas, ferry tickets for all of us and himself as our guide ๐ค The ferry ride took just 15 minutes from Gili Air to Lombok. On the second one, a driver was waiting ๐ The local market was very interesting and without tourists. Exciting to experience the atmosphere, the smells, the many impressions and many nice people. Away from the tourists on our walk in the rice fields, we were met by a very welcoming local population. There were smiles and waves everywhere. Our children were like rock stars and one family invited us into their home. You could clearly feel that there were no tourists and that we were very interesting ๐ The biggest experience of the trip was visiting the guide's village. Quite primitive houses with cows and chickens everywhere. We met his wife, child, parents and grandmother. On the walk around the village, we were greeted by very curious villagers. We drank Lombok coffee and tasted real local food they were preparing for tonight's Ramadan dinner. We had some great conversations and spent some cozy hours together. Without a doubt, it was a great experience for all 4 of us ๐ Great to experience places in the world where tourists rarely come. This is where the greatest experiences are hidden ๐
