Our journey in Peru is coming to an end for this time. We have yet to see much of Peru, but what we have seen we really like. Not many countries can boast a beach, desert, rainforest and mountains. We haven't had a quiet vacation, there's always something to try. We've seen sea lions, tried sand boarding, seen the Nazca Lines, rafted, hiked in Canyon del Colca, homestayed on Lake Titicaca, hiked at Machu Picchu etc. There are so many things and even more to experience on a trip to Peru. The food is delicious and offers delicacies such as crispy marvin and a juicy alpaca steak. You have to get used to the sweet Inca Cola and the sour Pisco Sour. However, you can never go wrong if you order Lomo Saltado :o) Don't save shopping for Lime, the city is far too expensive to buy souvenirs in. It's cheaper and better to do your shopping in Cusco, for example. The selection is also larger. At 4 pm we took a taxi to the airport, where the radio played the first Christmas tune of the year. We drove along the beach towards the airport, the sun was shining while Christmas music blared out of the speaker. At 17:35 the next day we landed at Hamburg airport after a stopover in Amsterdam.
