After sleeping for almost 24 hours, Honny felt much better, so we went out to explore the city a bit more and do some more shopping. Plaza San Blas is about 500 meters from Plaza de Armas. The street leading up to San Blas is narrow and steep. Here, you can see excellent examples of how buildings were constructed in the old days. Huge stones were placed perfectly on top of each other, so you can’t even fit a knife into the “almost nonexistent” mortar. The path up to Plaza San Blas is full of charm. There are small shops, cozy cafés, restaurants, galleries, and people sitting and knitting. Of course, we came away with even more purchases: a white alpaca blanket that is super soft – 70 S. In a Catholic shop, we found angels for the Christmas tree, which will soon be decorated – 4 pieces for 32 S. The rest of our purchases are a secret, as Christmas is coming soon :o) Suddenly, a girl shouted after us. It was Katy from Lonely Planet. She was with a friend who just had to meet her two big fans. She kept saying, “These guys make me feel famous.” Earlier in the day, we ran into two Danish girls we had met on the trip to Canyon del Colca. They were moving from one hotel to another but still had time for lunch. We also agreed to meet up for dinner. It’s always so nice to meet fellow Danes while traveling. It’s so rare that it happens :o)
