This Night

So, it’s our last day in Argentina, and we’ve just returned to Buenos Aires. Luckily, our flight went as planned, even with the ongoing airline strike here. We still need to buy a bunch of wine, but other than that, we’re just going to relax and enjoy the final part of our trip before heading back to chilly Denmark. We’re staying again at Hotel Uruguay for 60 pesos. They recognized us the moment we walked through the door. It’s a nice little budget hotel located in Microcentro, which is downtown Buenos Aires and close to just about everything. We picked up some wine at a supermarket and a specialty shop. At both places, it was hard to find wines that cost over 50 pesos. Even the finest wines can’t come close to the prices back in Denmark. After stashing the wine in our hotel room, we headed down to the pedestrian street. Honny found a pair of shoes for just 140 pesos! We wandered around the streets until it was 9 PM—dinner time. Then we took a taxi to Palermo, an area filled with restaurants and bars. Of course, we had to end our trip with a huge steak and a nice red wine... and drinks for dessert :) At one of the bars, the owner came over and wanted to take a picture of us in the backyard... um, we didn’t quite get that. It sounded a bit suspicious. Even the waiter looked puzzled, although he explained that the backyard had just been renovated :)
