Haeundae Beach og Spa Land

The sun was shining from a cloudless sky, so we took the subway out to South Korea's most famous beach called Haeundae. So did many locals as it's Sunday and the last day of summer, so everyone wanted to catch the last of the sun. It's easy to take the subway all the way to the beach from the city center. Haeundae Beach is not a beach that is as long as the eye can see, but it is beautifully situated with the city in the background. This is the first time we've seen so many Europeans gathered in one place before. Usually we only meet tourists from Japan and Singapore. Renting a parasol and 2 sun loungers cost 15,000 won, but we got it for 8,000 won :o) After basking in the sun for a few hours, we took the metro to Asia's largest spa - Spa Land. Metro line 2 to Centrum City exit 3. Spa Land is located in no less than the world's largest department store - Shinsegae, which houses over 680 brands, an ice rink, movie theater and eateries. A total of 293,904 m2 which earned them a place in the Guinness Book of Records in 2009. Here we needed our discount coupon from the airline magazine "Fly & Fun" together with our boarding pass, which secured us a 30% discount on the entrance fee. On weekends, it costs 14,000 won per person to stay a maximum of 4 hours in Spa Land. On weekdays it costs 12,000 won. At the entrance, you will be given a set of clothes to wear in the common areas. Spread over 3 floors, there is free access to the Finnish sauna, yellow Earth room, Roman room, pyramid room, body sound room, haman room etc. These sauna/steam rooms are in the common area. The only inconvenience is that you sweat a lot in a sauna where you are forced to wear clothes. In addition, there are hot springs for women only and hot springs for men only. In these areas, all bathing is done without swimwear. There is also free access to the internet if you need to check or send emails. Yes, we are in a high-tech society :o) It costs extra to get a massage, body scrub and buy food. The amount is automatically loaded on your wristband, which is settled at the end. So you don't have to carry money with you. Jan tried the body scrub, which was a tough one. He was scrubbed so hard that his skin was red and sore afterwards - but super soft. It cost 19,000 won for 20 minutes. There were signs with information that you should be considerate of others, so if you have skin diseases, tattoos etc., you should not use Spa Land. However, we saw several people with tattoos, so that rule is probably outdated. Unfortunately, if you're pregnant, many steam and hot tubs are also not recommended. Then you're relegated to the beautiful relaxation areas with sun loungers :o)
