Tongyeong highlights

The biggest attraction the city by the sea has to offer is more than 190 small islands. To get an overview of the area, it is highly recommended to start by taking the cable car up to the top of Mireuksan, which offers the best and most beautiful view of the sea. Here we really got a good overview of the many islands. The cable car costs 5,500 won or 9,000 won for a return ticket per person. Koreans really love to hike, so once again you're met by a colorful sight of eager exercising Koreans in great trekking gear struggling their way up Mireuksan instead of using the cable car :o) Koreans are very friendly and they are always sharing their food. They love to hike and have lunch with beautiful views, so they always have food with them. Every time we have been offered food...apples, chestnuts, tangerines, cake etc. Even if you take the cable car up, it still requires a bit of a hike to get to the very top where the best views are found. There are nice stairs all the way, so even though the walk takes about 15-20 minutes, it's easy. The view was great and we could see that the water was calm, but we opted not to sail out to the small islands. If you want to, just head down to the Passenger Ferry Terminal, which is located downtown at Gangguan. In the late afternoon we took the bus back to Busan. The ticket was a bit more expensive than our previous bus trips. We don't know why. 1.5 hours cost 10,000 won per person. Koreans love to gamble, so we went to the nice Lotte Hotel, which has 7Luck Casino. Admission is free, but don't forget your passport as you need to register. It didn't look like there was a dress code. People were very casually dressed. You can only play roulette if you have a chair to sit on. That rule was new to us :o) We had a good and lucky night at the casino as we left 90,000 won richer :o)
