From Alice Springs to Uluru (Ayers Rock)

Yesterday we drove from Alice Springs to Ayers Rock - a 446 km trip in four hours through a fascinating, endless desert landscape with no towns along the way. Ayers Rock is Australia's most iconic landmark - a huge red rock in the middle of the desert with great cultural significance to the local Aboriginal people. Climbing the rock used to be allowed, but has now been banned. We paid 76 AUD for a 3-day entrance ticket to the national park for all 4 of us, which is about 300 kr. We took a short hike to get close to the rock - wearing our fly nets over our heads of course🪰 Yes, there are a lot of flies here and it's a really good idea to get a fly net😝 In the evening we enjoyed the sunset where the rock changed color 🎨 Ayers Rock is truly indescribably beautiful - an experience that is difficult to reproduce with pictures. It's something you really have to experience in person. We were definitely impressed 🥰
