Flight to Bangkok from Chiang Mai

At 9 AM, we checked out. We received a copy of the bill (56,000 baht), a medical report, and a payment guarantee from our insurance. We also got the X-rays from before and after the surgery. We were driven to the airport in an ambulance, which definitely turned some heads! :o) For the last few days of our trip, we really wanted to stay somewhere nice. However, a lot of places were fully booked, so finding a free hotel was a bit of a challenge. In the end, we settled on Twin Towers, which cost 3,500 baht per night for an executive room. It's located downtown in the newer part of Bangkok, close to MBK and the other big shopping centers. It didn't take us long to head down to MBK, which is the place to be for young Thais shopping. MBK is filled with all sorts of knockoff items. Since we were finally staying at a nice hotel, we decided to treat ourselves to dinner at one of the fancy restaurants. Afterwards, we took a tuk-tuk out to Pat Pong. It's a fun and entertaining area, but there are also many tragic stories there. Young Thai girls working as prostitutes to make ends meet. Many of them have children at home, whom they've had with foreign customers. They earn 500 baht a month, which is paid by the bar, plus another 500 baht per customer.
