DVD Hunt

We bought an open bus ticket to Hanoi, which is the cheapest way to get around. We’re taking the bus tonight at 8:30 PM, so we rented the room at half price to avoid being homeless all day. Back home, we were told it’s best to take a taxi to and from the bank when withdrawing money, just to avoid any unwanted attention. A cyclo isn’t safe enough since a motorcyclist could easily snatch a bag while passing by. We wanted to exchange the rest of our Malaysian ringgit for dong, but that turned out to be impossible, which we found really strange since you can exchange Danish kroner without any issue. We headed back to Pham Ngu Lao for dinner. After that, we went on a DVD hunt around the neighborhood. There are so many shops selling the latest movies at super cheap prices. We spent the whole afternoon searching for DVDs and ended up with a great selection of the newest films. Honny bought 10 for 198,000 dong—or you could pay a dollar each. You can even check the quality of the DVD before buying it, so you don’t get ripped off. We had dinner before heading back to the hotel to pack. We enjoyed Red Bulls, strawberry shakes, water, salad, and noodle soup for just 60,000 dong. At 8:30 PM, the bus arrived. We were a bit disappointed to find there were no reclining seats, which meant we were in for a bumpy 9-hour ride. We passed through many towns where the bus stopped to pick up more backpackers... and suddenly, there was that French guy again. He had been in Muine, but there wasn’t much to see or do, so he only stayed one night.
