Boat Trip

Today we went on a boat trip, so we had to get up early since we needed to be at Bahia Marina by 8:30 AM. It was raining when we woke up, and it continued as we made our way to the marina. Luckily, the skies cleared up, and we ended up with brilliant sunshine. In fact, the sun was so strong that we both got a bit sunburned. We sailed around to different islands, stopping at two beaches. After having been to Thailand and Malaysia, we've become a bit spoiled when it comes to beaches, so we weren't overly impressed with these ones or the clarity of the water. I collected a bunch of beautiful sea urchin shells. They looked great, but I doubt they'll survive the trip back to Denmark. Some of them even broke on the boat ride home. There were a lot of Americans and Australians on the trip, so we ended up chatting quite a bit in English. We especially hit it off with two Australians who were really entertaining. We exchanged email addresses, and if we ever make it to Melbourne, we promised to get in touch. Everywhere you go, there are vendors, and the beaches we visited were no exception. Honny bought a white coral necklace for 3 reais, and I picked up a T-shirt for 8 reais. We didn't get back to Salvador until around 5:30 PM. In the evening, we headed out into the city to find a restaurant for dinner. We found a place with a great view over the whole city. We ordered a dish for two, which is a popular choice here. This way, the food comes out a bit faster too. We had chicken with a bunch of traditional sides—some better than others. Freshly squeezed juice, or sucos, has also become a staple of our meals. Honny almost always goes for tropical fruit, while I prefer pineapple or strawberries.
