Praia do Forte

Today, we were heading further north to Praia do Forte, but first, we needed to buy our flight tickets from Recife to Sao Paolo, which is where we’ll be flying home from. After having breakfast and packing up all our bags, we took a taxi to a travel agency. It wasn’t far, but we didn’t want to lug all our luggage around. We managed to get some cheaper tickets than the last time we flew domestically. It cost 290 reais per person, including taxes. Once again, we couldn’t pay with our Visa card because it was declined. Luckily, we had cash on hand. We made it to the bus station just in time for the 11 o'clock bus. The trip to Praia do Forte takes about 1 hour and 40 minutes and cost 5.30 reais per ticket. When we arrived in Praia do Forte, we were dropped off on the road leading into town. We stood there in the blazing sun with all our bags. Fortunately, a school bus passed by heading toward the town, so we got a lift. We had read that the town was newly discovered by tourists and that the main road was still dirt. That wasn’t quite the case anymore. The roads were paved with stones, and the town was packed with little shops and restaurants. It actually looked a bit like a giant campsite. We wandered around the town for a bit before settling on a pousada. It was right on the main street, close to the beach and all the shops. It cost 40 reais per night, including breakfast. In the afternoon, we headed down to the beach and browsed around the shops. I bought a white top for 16 reais. We were a bit disappointed with the town, as we thought we were going to see an "untouched place." Instead, it felt more like we were on a camping trip :) In the evening, we went out to eat. There were plenty of restaurants to choose from. We had Argentine grilled steaks with salad and rice.
