Back in Iasi

This morning we drove from our hotel in the Moldovan capital Chișinău back to Iași in Romania, where we will spend the night at the Hilton. This time the border crossing took just 15 minutes, which is fast 🙌 Sunshine all day, fortunately also in Iași, and now hold on to the contrast. It almost feels like two different worlds. While Moldova is still one of Europe's poorest countries, Romania has had a pretty wild development and doubled its GDP over the last 10 years. Iași appears more modern, well-maintained and significantly richer. But it's not because Chișinău doesn't have wide boulevards and beautiful buildings, because the city certainly does. The difference lies more in the general level of prosperity, maintenance and how much is invested. It's really interesting to experience such a clear difference between two neighboring countries. Iași is clearly a city worth visiting 👍 The prices are also then. Iași is probably a little less than half the price of Denmark for many things, while Moldova is more down to a third, sometimes even cheaper. Moldova is really a cheap travel country 👌 We only pay 530 kr for a night at the Hilton for 4 people including a huge breakfast buffet 😄 That's really good value. Tomorrow we return our rental car and fly home. And that might be a good thing, because it's so old and worn out that it almost feels like a small miracle that it's still running 😂
