We arrived at Iași Airport in Romania with Wizz Air directly from Billund. Without checked luggage, we quickly glided through the terminal, and shortly afterwards we were already standing out front and were picked up by the local car rental company. It all went quite smoothly. Only a few companies allow you to bring a rental car into Moldova, so we had been a little nervous beforehand. Fortunately, they had both insurance and the necessary permits in place. We were given an older Dacia Duster with just over 150,000 km on the clock – not the newest model, but it drives fine and will probably get us there 😄 At the border, things got a little more interesting. We had all the papers ready, but were met with curious looks and a few questions from the border police. They seemed genuinely surprised at what we were doing in Moldova – as if it wasn’t a place you would normally choose to travel to 🤣 But we do….. We were asked several times if we had drugs with us, which we could of course say no to. Otherwise, they were actually both nice and accommodating – just a little thorough. It took about an hour to get through, as we had to go through both the Romanian and Moldovan sides. Now we have arrived at our first stop in Moldova – the border town of Ungheni. There are no tourists here, but that actually just makes it a little more authentic and calm. We had a late dinner at a really nice restaurant – 4 courses, dessert, drinks, 2 glasses of wine, cola, etc. So nothing was missing. In fact, so much food that we could roll home😄The bill ended up being around 330 kr. in total, which must be said to be quite reasonable. We are looking forward to seeing what the next few days bring 😊
