Azerbaijan is great!

Azerbaijan is really surprising us! Before we traveled here, several people told us that it might be dangerous. But Azerbaijan is actually a very safe and secure travel destination, and people are incredibly kind and helpful. A truly great experience 🎉 Even though around 97% of the population is Muslim, especially Baku feels very modern and relaxed compared to many other Muslim countries. You see plenty of cafés, cocktail bars, nightlife, and locals openly enjoying alcohol 🍷🍺 Almost all women go without headscarves, and religion generally doesn’t play a big role in everyday life. The combination of Soviet history, oil wealth, and its location between Europe and Asia makes Baku a very unique metropolitan experience. We’re honestly really fond of the capital Baku, so our last day of the trip will be spent in the million-city.
