Hong Kong and China

2 weeks of holiday in the soutern part of China with stop in Hong Kong, Macau, Yangshou, Guilin and Hainan.

Who is not dreaming about celebrating New Year in the country that invented fireworks .. We were not in China New Year's Eve - but in the metropolis, Hong Kong, the city that never, never sleeps. When visiting Hong Kong, you have also very easy access to south China and Macau. South China offers dazzling scenery around Yangshou where the Li River runs through the city. Catch a bike and explore the Chinese countryside, caves and Moon Mountain. Guilin is located near Dragon Back rice terrasses where one of its many minorities live - "Long-haired women". The island of Hainan, which is called China's Hawaii, is filled with palm trees, beaches and fresh fish. Macau is the Las Vegas of China with big casinos and hotels. The city is China's sole legal venue - it is forbidden to gamble elsewhere in the country. When we were there, Macau had a bigger turnover than the world famous city, Las Vegas. Hong Kong and Macau is China's two regions which have special status called SAR = Special Administrative Region. Hong Kong was once a British colony, and Macau was a Portuguese colony. They were given special status to "come back" to China. SAR means that the two regions controll all domestic politics for 50 years but fall under China's foreign policy. We purchased airline tickets through Turkish Airlines website for 2980,- dkk/person. A good deal. Previously, we have flown with this company and have had only good experiences so we can highly recommend to use Turkish Airlines if you want cheaper tickets.
