Arrival in Guilin

We chose to visit Guilin off-season where there were not many tourists.

Today, we're flying on to Guilin. Guangzhou has been incredibly cheap to stay in, but the airport is a whole different story—it's super expensive here compared to Hong Kong airport. Goodbye, warmth! Last week, the temperature fluctuated between 8 and 19 degrees, but now it’s only 8 degrees. On the bright side, a lot of people here speak English since this area is one of the most touristy in China. It’s a nice change! Today, though, tourists are huddling indoors to escape the cold and rain. It’s chilly at our hostel too; everyone is wearing jackets, whether they’re inside or outside. As soon as we got to the airport, people started trying to "sell" us things. For the first time, we’re being approached by vendors, but we’re taking it all in stride and smiling. The Chinese people are really nice; they’re not too pushy at all.
