Birthday in Pisa

It is Jan's birthday and he would like to celebrate it by going away for a weekend. However, the destination was a big secret....which turned out to be in Pisa. Very cheap flight tickets with Ryan Air makes it possible to go anywhere in Europe for the weekend. Who doesn't want to be able to do that once in a while? Pisa is an Italian city in the region of Tuscany with 88,000 inhabitants. The city is world famous for it's leaning tower, which many mistakenly consider as the world's most leaning building. The honor goes to a Church in the German town Suurhusen . Never the less, it is a great experience to see the church and the other attractions and sights which the city has to offer. In the 1100 century, one of the best architects, Bonanno Pisano, was rewarded the task to build the tower. Just after building 3 floors of the tower it began to lean because of a flaw in the foundation. He tried to stabilize the building by making the next floors leaning in the opposite direction, but the tower poured still more. Today it is nearly 5 meters away from it's horizontal axis. Until a few years ago, the tilt increased continuesly every year and it was only a matter of time before the tower would fall together. It is, however, managed to straighten the tower a bit up through counterweight from the cables. In this way, future generations can also visit the charming tower. We chose the hotel Villa Kinzica which has a fine view of the famous leaning tower. When we woke up the next morning and went out on our balcony, we could enjoy the view of the leaning tower ... As the pictures show, we went to Florence and spent the last day there. The city is located only 1 hour by train from Pisa, and then there is only 1 more hour to Rome.
