On Friday at 11:20 AM, we kicked off our long flight journey that would take us to Santiago, Chile. There was a bit of a flutter in my stomach as we took off. The pilot suddenly slammed on the brakes out on the runway. All the passengers were fearing the worst, but he later reassured us that it was just some birds in the way :) We landed in Frankfurt on time and had a whopping 10-hour layover before our flight to South America. So, we decided to head into the heart of Frankfurt, just a quick 15-minute trip, to check out the city. We were pretty hungry, so we made our way to an Irish pub called O'Reilly's. There, we satisfied our hunger and had to try their beer to see if it lived up to the hype. It was top-notch, and we enjoyed it to the fullest :) After dinner, we wandered around Frankfurt's city center and ended up in a Muslim neighborhood filled with one shop after another. It turned out to be a great idea to head into the city, as the time flew by a bit faster. Just before it got dark, we made our way back to the airport and settled into one of the bars, where we indulged in several glasses of apple wine, which was on special for just 2.50 euros a glass :) Finally, it was time to board the flight that would take us on the long journey to Santiago, Chile. We were about an hour late leaving the runway, but the captain assured us that we would make up for it during the night thanks to a faster flight route, so we felt optimistic.
