Finally, I was feeling fresh enough to continue our journey. Jan had been feeling like he was traveling alone since I had only been there physically, not mentally. Jysk Rejsebureau recommended a tailor to us, but we thought he was too expensive. A suit made from the cheapest fabric cost 7,500 baht. So, we headed over to Khaosan Road, where there are countless tailors fiercely competing for customers and prices. There, we found a tailor and met some Swedes who recommended the shop, St. Michael’s Fashion. Here, a suit made from the finest fabric cost 7,000 baht. Jan ordered a suit with a vest, shirt, and silk tie. I ordered a skirt and top in Thai silk for 2,000 baht. All in all, our clothes cost about 1,800 Danish kroner. We were told to come back later that day to try on the fitting of the clothes. We took a tuk-tuk to the thieves' market... or so we thought. Apparently, our driver just took us for a little spin before dropping us off at a random market. A Thai person rarely says no to money, so he took us along but dropped us off at the wrong place. The trip wasn’t a total bust, though, as Jan managed to snag a Danish national team football jersey for just 100 baht—super cheap! Later, we headed to a zoo that we had passed on the way to the thieves' market. It was beautifully situated around a lake where you could rent pedal boats and escape the bustling streets of Bangkok for a bit. The place had a lot of reptiles, like crocodiles and snakes. At 6 PM, we were supposed to go back to St. Michael’s Fashion to try on the clothes. However, only Jan got to try his on since mine wasn’t finished yet. We would have to return for a final fitting a few days later, which worked out well since we had plans for a little trip. We stayed on Khaosan Road for dinner and found a restaurant with a great view of the whole area. Finally, I felt ready to try a drink again, so we ordered a couple of nice cold Smirnoff Ice. Across from the restaurant was a small bar where we struck up a conversation with a couple. The girl, Gail, was from Zimbabwe, and the guy, Greg, was from New Zealand. They asked if we wanted to join them at Patpong since they hadn’t been there yet. They seemed really nice, so we decided to go. We hopped from bar to bar and, of course, ended up checking out a ping-pong show, which is a must in Bangkok. Jan was also up for some karaoke, so we found a place where he could let loose. He went all out with "I Did It My Way," "Africa," and "Let It Be."
