Karaoke in Patpong

The price for our hotel included breakfast, and the buffet was almost endlessly large. It was our last day in Pattaya, and we were heading back to Bangkok. The bus left at 10:30, and when we arrived at the station, we saw we’d be taking the same rickety bus back, but luckily this time the air conditioning was working. Once we got to Bangkok, we took a taxi straight to Khaosan Road to find a place to stay. We figured we might as well stay in this area since we’d be trying on our clothes with the tailor later in the day. We checked back into D&D, as it was the only hotel with a pool on Khaosan Road that we could find. Unfortunately, we discovered a bit too late that the pool was under repair, so it had been drained—bummer. We found out that shopping on the streets behind Khaosan Road is a bit cheaper since it’s easier to haggle over prices. Maybe it’s because those streets aren’t as crowded as the main road. We had heard a lot about two big boxing venues back home, so we had planned to check them out in the evening. Unfortunately, we had to postpone our visit because they were closed for Buddha Day. Once again, we wanted to give the night market a shot, but no one seemed to know about it, so instead, we headed back to Patpong. We found a restaurant called Sizzler’s, which we remembered from our trip to the USA, to have dinner. The food was really good, served in huge portions, and there was also a buffet, so we definitely left stuffed. We had wine with our meal, served in a champagne cooler—very romantic! The whole meal, including the wine, cost us 950 baht, which is super cheap compared to Denmark. You can’t help but shop and enjoy drinks when you’re in Patpong. At least we can’t. We found the karaoke place we had visited before. They recognized us, so Jan got to go wild with the microphone over and over again.
