Today was our last day in Indonesia on this trip. But it's definitely time to come back! The huge country has so much to offer and an incredibly friendly, smiling and welcoming people everywhere. We will definitely be back. Next stop is Vietnam. We were among the first to leave the ship at 7am this morning and all day we have been exploring Semarang. A city with 2 million inhabitants in Central Java. We have visited different neighborhoods in the city. From the historic quarter with beautiful colonial buildings to colorful neighborhoods where the houses are painted in all the colors of the world. Local markets where we are the only tourists and everywhere we go we get smiling and curious attention. Yes, there are not many tourists in this part of Indonesia. 96% of the population of Java is Muslim. As we are still in the month of Ramadan, it meant that we were the only guests in the zoo! It's definitely not every day you have an entire zoo to yourself! The entrance fee was also quite modest. 25kr for all 4 of us.
