Lake Titicaca

The wireless development is of great benefit to people in outer areas. They've skipped a step. They go from having no electronic items to having it all. They may have a mobile phone instead of a landline phone. Solar panels allow them to have power so they can get light and charge their mobile phones. However, we have not yet seen that they have television. A solar panel costs approx.7000 dkk, but it's well spent, as they get free power. There are plenty of sunshine hours in Peru, so a solar panel is an ingenious invention for people in outer areas. Our host family had made pancakes for breakfast. His son, Diego, also had time to eat with him before he had to go to school. There is both a kindergarten and a school on the island. The rest of the family went down to the harbor with us when they were going to the mainland. These include:the president's job is to raise money from the travel agency for the families who have had tourists staying. He does that every Friday. His wife dressed in the fine traditional clothes we had worn the day before. She should be nice when she went into town. On the way back, we sailed to Taquile. Taquile and Amantani are both common islands - not floating like Uros.Taquila has been a tourist for a long time, which is why tourism has partly managed to destroy the island. Parts of the population are tired of the many tourists. Hotels and restaurants have been created, so it is not the entire population that benefits from the many tourists and their money. The island is also at war with the mainland travel agencies, who want to keep prices down to attract the most tourists.To punish Taquile, travel agents have moved many nights to Amantani. Clothing on Taquile is easy to read. Unmarried men wear a red top hat that is white at the end. Married men wear an entire red top hat. If unmarried men put the end of the hat to the right, they are looking for a wife. If the end of the hat is set to the left, they are only out on adventures - nothing fixed.Unmarried women wear a scarf with very powerful and colorful pompoms. Back in town, we quickly changed our clothes as it's Honny's birthday. The variety of restaurants and bars is large in the pedestrian zone, which is a side street of the Plaza de Armas. We found the most expensive restaurant that served alpaca - the little white version of a llama. Honny should definitely try to taste alpaca, which is considered something of a delicacy in this country.It also tasted good. Some say it tastes like lamb. We thought it tasted more like pork. Main course, dessert, wine, cola and water cost 209 S. It is ultra expensive in this country. But it's cheap compared to the finest restaurant in Denmark. Many people hand out free drink tickets to lure people in. We found a cozy bar where they encouraged everyone to write a greeting on their walls.Here we met a Danish girl from Aarhus, who was in Peru to write her thesis on tourism in Peru. A Danish SU goes a long way in Peru, so she lived well. We filled out a questionnaire that was part of her specialty. Are you a backpacker or with a tour group ?
